Microsoft has released Windows Defender Beta 2, which is the next testing release of the renamed Microsoft Antispyware.

Upon first look you are left wondering if this in fact the same product: it looks completely different and there are some functionality changes!

Let’s start with the new look. First off the application icon has changed:

The application user interface is sleeker with a simpler layout, for example the Tools screen now looks like:

Very pleasant graphics and colour scheme. Much better than the old user interface in beta 1.

We’ll look more into the functionality changes over the coming days and provide some feedback.

In the meantime, Microsoft has provided a handy comparison guide to the different anti-spyware products they provide.

Model Blogger Told to Stop

Anina, a fashion model, has been instructed to stop blogging on techie things by her fashion agency.

This is a infingement of this person’s rights to comment on a passion they have. The agency should clarify why they feel her blogging on technical themes is jeopordising her career as a model or their fashion industry business.

The saddest part is the agency should be utilising Anina’s passion as part of their marketing to secure business from technology companies and advertising agencies whom have clients in the technology sphere. Short sighted techno-ludites. A marketing opportunity missed but who’d expect an agency dealing in advertising to spot that!
