Interesting post. I'd like to throw another scenario out there to see if anyone recognizes this. I have the A8N32-SLI and i ran XP on it until November 2007. Now I'm running Vista Home Premium. I have snap crackle pop, that appears to be due to system load/activity also. BUT get this, I have it BOTH with the onboard Realtek, and with a separate PCI slot SoundBlaster Audigy SE. I've disabled the PC speaker and other devices, tried every driver under the sun, but if two different devices give the same result, where else can i point a finger but Vista? OF course my mobo isn't Vista supported, so it's my own fault right? Well, it runs 99% of the things i want fine, but Crysis sound is pitiful, even at lowest settings. I installed XP and a second drive and set it up to dual boot, and of course, XP runs Crysis like a champ with the onboard sound, no snap, crackle or pop. M$ can you hear us?
